Community of Care
On January 24, 2006 the David Thompson Health Region announced approval in principle to develop a 220 bed continuing care facility on vacant land on Michener's South Site to replace the Red Deer Nursing Homes and the Valley Park Manor. This initial phase is part of the development of an overall Community of Care in Red Deer.
As part of the overall Community of Care, the DTHR has agreed to work with the PDD Central Alberta Community Board to develop accommodation for 50-70 individuals who live at Michener and to explore future provision of health care services that Michener Services now provides internally.
The further planning work will occur through a Joint Planning Team that includes DTHR, Alberta Infrastructure, and PDD.
