Residential and Support Services (RSS) provides 24-hour care and residential
accommodation for approximately 90 adults with severe developmental
disabilities and accompanying
complex care needs. RSS is composed of three areas:
- Eric Cormack Centre
- 11 Community Homes
- Activity Program
Eric Cormack Centre is home to approximately 28 adults, while each community
home serves six individuals. RSS staff include nurses, Individual
Support Workers and rehabilitation staff who provide for daily needs,
activities
and development
of each individual through a variety of services and program options.
Specialized Supports
PDD Edmonton Region Community Board takes on the challenge to be
creative with responses to an individual's request. Some
examples of additional
supports we can provide include:
- "Start-up" costs for furniture and other items, for
an individual leaning an institution who has no personal belongings
- Access
to behavioural consultants and counsellors for individuals, agencies and/or
families who are experiencing difficulties in
this area
- Arranging assessments if eligibility is questioned, or if other questions/concerns
occur
- Assisting with transportation costs to and from
weekday employment or programs, if regular transportation is not appropriate
or available
