Our Vision - People with developmental disabilities as leaders and partners in a world without barriers

The Persons with Developmental Disabilities Northwest Alberta Community Board was formed in late 1997 and assumed governance responsibilities in April, 1998. It is one of six regional Boards across Alberta.

The regional Boards were created to encourage more community involvement in the planning and delivery of services that meet the unique needs of adults with developmental disabilities.

PDD Board members serve a 3 year term and can serve a maximum of 2 terms in a row. The Minister of Seniors & Community Supports appoints the Board members. A Board will have a Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, and members from the community which can include parents/guardians of individuals with developmental disabilities. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports to the Board.

The PDD Northwest Alberta Community Board provides programs and services to adults with developmental disabilities in Grande Prairie, Peace River, Slave Lake, High Prairie, High Level and Grande Cache and communities in between.
