Ron Crossley, Chair (Red Deer) - to December 2008

Ron Crossley was appointed as Chair to the PDD Central Alberta Community Board. His thirty-three month term expires on June 30, 2006. He is a Management Consultant and Part Time Instructor at Red Deer College. Previously, he was Senior Advisor for the City of Red Deer and the Deputy Minister of Health & Social Services for the Northwest Territories. Currently, he is a member of Health Professions Advisory Board & Region #4 CFSSA Board. He has also served on the David Thompson Regional Health Authority Board.

Michele Brewster (Bowden) – to December 2007

Michele Brewster of Bowden is currently the Student Services Coordinator for the Career High Outreach School, she provides counselling and support to high school students and families.  Ms. Brewster's previous board experience includes an eight-year term with the Central Alberta Child and Family Services Region 4 Board.

Diana Rowe (Drumheller) – to June 30, 2010

Diana brings experience as a municipal councillor to the board. She has worked to facilitate partnerships as executive director of the Red Deer Downtown Business Association and chair of the Downtown Safety Task Force.

Doris Kibermanis (Innisfail) – to December 2008

Doris lives in Innisfail and is a parent of a son who has a developmental disability. She has extensive experience in providing direct support to individuals both in the developmental disability and health care fields. She holds diplomas as a Legal Secretary, (currently called paralegal), a teacher's assistant, in Adult Education, and as an Advanced Personal Care Attendant. She currently works for the David Thompson Health Region and continues a strong interest in learning and in supporting the work with persons with developmental disabilities.

Grace Higgins (Red Deer) – to June 30, 2010

Grace returns to the board after a hiatus to continue advocating on behalf on persons with developmental disabilities. Grace served two terms (one as vice-chair and acted as chair for just under a year) on the Central Alberta PDD Board. She brings her professional training in Nuclear Medicine Technology, experience running her business in Red Deer, and valuable insights and practical solutions gained in being a parent of an adult child with a developmental disability to the work of the Board.

Merv Rockel, Vice Chair (Rocky Mtn House) - to December 2009

Merv Rockel of Rocky Mountain House was previously a PDD Board member, serving from October 30, 1997 to January 14, 2004.  With 30 years of service to the Wild Rose School Division, Mr. Rockel brings extensive experience from the education section.  He is currently the owner and operator a of cow/calf operation.  Mr. Rockel also brings considerable committee and board experience, including as a member of the Central Alberta Community Board and the Dual Diagnosis Conference Planning Committee.  As a parent of a child with a developmental disability, he has direct experience with persons with developmental disabilities.

Marilou Yamplosky (Camrose) – to June 30, 2010

Marilou has more than 10 years' experience working in the developmental disabilities field. She is an experienced communicator and workshop presenter.

David Saltvold (Red Deer) - Intern

David Saltvold is an active self advocate, who has worked with the Central Alberta Advocacy Network, the Central Alberta Self Advocates, and the Leadership Today Society all while juggling his responsibilities working for Sobey's South grocery store in Red Deer. David was presented with the Doreen Befus Self Advocate of the Year award by the PDD Central Alberta Community Board in 2005 and was selected to the position of Board Intern in June 2006. David will serve a one year term as the Board Intern to help ensure that the voice of individuals who receive PDD supports is heard during all Board discussions and decisions.

Roger Will (Red Deer) – to June 2009

Roger Will was appointment to the Board in 2003. He has spent 20-years in the real estate industry, and has extensive volunteer experience, serving on the Canadian Mental Health Association, People's Place, Downtown Planning Committee, and other committees and boards. His appointment to June 2009 will be his second term.

Lorne McEwen, CEO (Red Deer)

Lorne has spent 31 years working in Human Services Programs,  26 years in PDD Services, and 6 years in management role in Child Care, Prevention of Family Violence, Handicapped Children Services, Child Protection Services, Foster Care and Adoptions in Red Deer and Calgary. He was the first Independent Living Services Outreach Worker in Alberta, has managed all aspects of the PDD Program in Central Region. Lorne has degrees in Psychology and Economics, a Rehabilitation Services Diploma and is a graduate of University of Alberta Senior Management and Executive Development Program.
