April Web Letter

Tansi.

Spring is here, and even if there is a little snow, it has been a very nice winter. With Spring's arrival we start to do a little more traveling. We recently attended the Boyle St. Round Dance. We are looking forward to going to Edmonton and meeting new people. Pow-wow season starts as soon as it warms up so we're also looking forward to that.

We will be working with ArtSparks again this month. The group will be doing some tie-dying and that is always fun. ArtSparks is a wonderful group of people and we have enjoyed their program immensely.

In March we learned about drums and how to make hand drums. We also made canvas bags to store them in. We would like to thank Patty for all her help with the bags. We appreciate it very much.

In April we will learn about Aboriginal homes. Our focus will mainly be tepees and igloos as those are most closely associated to our group. We will study the meaning of the tepee poles, how to raise a tepee and the protocols around them. Should be interesting.

We took a quick trip to Wetaskiwin recently to shop at L&L Beads. This store is the only one in Central Alberta, that we have found anyways, that carries all the crafting supplies we need for our program. The owners are awesome and very helpful. Stop by there if you're in Wetaskiwin and check it out.

Until next month, take care.
