July Web Letter

Tansi. Well one of the wettest months in history has passed. We hope you and yours were able to stay dry and safe.

June also saw us celebrating National Aboriginal Week. We spent that week doing a little traveling. We headed out to Rocky Mountain House to partake in their Aboriginal Day festivities. We had a very nice, hot, fun day.

Next we hosted our own Native Awareness event. Those participating did such an excellent job. Our thanks go to Lacombe Eagles for the premiere of their play on Father Lacombe, the Red Deer Aboriginal Dance Troupe for taking the time to show us their dancing skills and to our own members who made their own premiere and drummed. To those of you who could not attend, you missed something very special. Way to go everyone.

We will be heading to Tsuu Tina Pow wow on July 23rd. It will be our first Pow wow of the year and we are very excited. Also, the Red Deer Westerner parade is on July 20th. We are assisting them with the float and then riding on it for the parade. That is always a great day.

It is time for the tepee to go up in its new yard. The sod that was laid is now ready and it is beautiful grass. If you have no plans for July 12th head over behind #210 and give us a hand. This is always a fun time and we will see if we can do better than last year.

We will also be heading down to Bower Ponds to collect articles for future projects. This is providing the flood damage is cleaned up by then, which I am sure it will be. We will also be doing some drumming while we are there, so it should be a very nice afternoon.

We hope you have a very safe and fun summer and will talk to you next month.
