June 2005 Web Letter
It's green. The flowers are growing. I think it has finally arrived. Spring, my favorite season. With spring comes putting up the tepee. Our dilemma came when we realized we don't have a yard. This has been solved, with lots of help, and we now have a large fenced area right behind our building. The sod has been planted and we will be putting in a fire pit and adding some lawn chairs. We can't walk on the grass for about a month, so we are impatiently waiting.
We are starting to be quite busy for June. We will be traveling to our Camp L.G. Barnes at Gull Lake once a month for Native days. The Red Deer parade is in July so we will be working on the float decorations this month and, of course, June brings National Aboriginal Week to Canada. That is the week of June 21. We will be heading to Rocky Mountain House to help them celebrate on the 21st and then on the 23rd we are hosting an Aboriginal Concert here at Michener. It is an afternoon performance by three organizations. There will be a play about Father Lacombe, dancing with the Red Deer Aboriginal Dance Troupe and our own group members will be performing. It is open to all those in PDD Central so please try and take it in. Contact us for more information.
On June 25th we will, once again, be traveling to Bowden to spend the day with the Native Brotherhood Organization. It will be a day of dancing, friendship and feasts. This will be our 5th annual trip and every one of them is more enjoyable than the last. We can't wait.
We would like to take a minute to thank all those areas involved in getting our building and yard to look as great as it does. Those in operations, public works, executive, support staff, group members and hopefully I didn't miss anyone. Thank you all so very much.
Talk to you next month.
