June Web Letter
Tansi. Well, June is already upon us and we are busy. The pow wow trail begins in earnest this month as well as National Aboriginal Week so we are definitely on the move.
I have attached some upcoming events that we are aware of. We hope you can attend some of these and enjoy a taste of Aboriginal culture. I will try to keep these updated through the summer as we find out more information. Please remember to check and see if events listed are still being held a few days prior to it as there is no way to let the public know when one of these events is cancelled.
During National Aboriginal, June 21-23, there are numerous activities taking place in Red Deer. Everything from drum making to dancing and crafts will be available for you to enjoy. I have attached a sheet listing the where and when for those. Please note that some of these need you to register, should you choose to participate in them. It will be a fun and educational week so mark it on your calendar.
In May our group learned about Aboriginal celebrations and what to expect when attending them. The hope is to make it a more comfortable and rewarding experience for everyone. We also had a friend bring in her jingle dance outfit and all the accoutrements that go with it. We would like to thank Patty for taking the time to do that for our group. We appreciate it.
June will see us having more relaxed Tuesday classes. We are going to finish up some projects, have a fun day with golf carts and games and do some cooking. In July we are going to put the tepee up in the back yard- always an interesting venture for all of us.
Have a great month and get out and celebrate National Aboriginal Week.
