MICHENER SERVICES

Michener Logo Michener Services is an integral part of Alberta 's array of supports and services for adults with developmental disabilities. Michener operates 39 homes on a 300-acre site in Red Deer , two homes in an off-site duplex in Red Deer and two homes at Youngstown , Alberta . It supports 274 adults (as of August 2009) by providing an impressive range of recreational, social, residential, spiritual and health services.

Michener runs several health clinics and two recreation facilities, Beaver Hall and the Roland Michener Recreation Centre. It also provides social and educational programs at The Hub in downtown Red Deer.

Staff members encourage and assist individuals to make decisions about the things that shape their lives and to participate in the widest possible range of life experiences. They do ‘whatever it takes' to help individuals realize their dreams and aspirations.

Michener operates under the direction of the Persons with Developmental Disabilities Central Region Community Board with funding from the Ministry of Seniors and Community Supports.
