Community Supports Coordinators
Adults with a developmental disability or their parents
or guardians may need help finding information about
resources, supports, or services that may be available
in their community.
Community Supports Coordinators are staff who can provide:
- Information about living and working in the community
- Assessments of individual/family needs
- Individual lifestyle planning and information about
funding
- Public awareness and education
Community Supports Coordinators operate
within a specific philosophical and values base:
- All individuals are valued members of society
- People with developmental disabilities have a right
to enjoy the opportunities and privileges of citizenship
available to all Albertans
- Individuals should have the opportunity to exercise
choice about where they live and what they want to
do
- People with developmental disabilities must be involved
in planning and monitoring of the supports
required to meet their needs.
Community Supports Coordinators are knowledgeable
about the local community and the resources, supports,
and programs that are available to assist adults with
developmental disabilities and their families.
They also focus on developing and arranging funding
to support persons with developmental disabilities. If you have any questions about services or supports
to an adult with a developmental disability call the
Community Supports Coordinator.
