Second Century Communities

Over Alberta's first century (1905-2005) the nature of how our society supports individuals with developmental disabilities has undergone radical change. As Alberta moves toward the beginning of it's Second Century, a further evolution of the vision and approach is being generated. This new vision sees the lives of Albertans defined by their membership in communities, not by their consumption of services.

PDD along with AARC are now developing some of the groundwork which will enable this new vision to become a reality. As part of the development efforts, a number of discussion papers have been prepared (with more planned) and published.

These papers can assist anyone interested in building inclusive communities for all Albertans in thinking about their role in Alberta's Second Century!
