PDD Central Community Recognition Program

Support to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families requires the contribution and commitment of many people.

The PDD Central Region Community Board Recognition program celebrates the contributions, dedication, commitment and service of individuals, businesses, and other organizations in supporting persons with developmental disabilities.

For 2010, the Board is presenting awards in four categories:

  1. Self-Advocate: a self-advocate who has demonstrated leadership and overcome barriers and/or undertaken action to improve the lives of persons with developmental disabilities.
  2. Citizenship: a community member, business or organization that has promoted community inclusion and/or taken action to better the lives of persons with developmental disabilities through new and innovative means.
  3. Service Sector Leadership: a community service provider or individual from an agency who went above and beyond the normal duties, responsibilities and expectations of a service provider to improve the lives of persons with developmental disabilities.
  4. Family Leadership: a family or family members who have demonstrated leadership within their community that contributes to the vision and mission of the PDD Program.

The award categories for 2010 have been adjusted to align with the PDD Provincial Community Leadership Award program.

Nominations for the 2010 PDD Central Community Recognition program are now being accepted.
