Recommendations for Improving
PDD's Approach to Determining Individual Support Needs
- Strengthen the use of multiple mechanisms for supporting the
approach of person/family driven planning.
- Create a network of resources available across the province so that
people with disabilities, their families and support workers have
access to information on inclusion, community living, planning, new
ideas and approaches, disability information, etc.
- Support all stakeholders to understand and use values-based decision
making processes, that are consistent with the approved principles and
reflect the values of the Community Governance Act.
- Build partnerships with stakeholders to deepen understanding and
broaden considerations for meeting the individual's support needs.
- Establish collaboration and co-operation within the government and
other government boards to address how to more effectively meet
individual support needs, in alignment with PDD principles.
