In 2006-07, funding for the PDD Program is almost $509 million, a 4.09% increase (up by $19 million) from the previous year.
- PDD supports approximately 9,100 adult Albertans and their families through a provincial program and six community boards . PDD provides services for community living and access, employment, and specialized supports, which enable people to live, learn, work, and be active in their communities.
- The most recent PDD Satisfaction Survey (2004-05) shows that about 86% of families and guardians surveyed reported overall satisfaction with PDD-funded supports.
- The range and extent of services provided varies substantially, based on the unique needs of the individual. The focus is on supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling and inclusive lives in Alberta communities.
- Community agencies serve more than 90% of the individuals receiving PDD funding, while PDD's direct operations serve approximately 5% and families who hire their own supports represent the remaining individuals.
